Calyx Play Therapy in Oxford
WELCOME TO
My name is Beth. I am a Play Therapy UK registered Integrative-Holistic Play Therapist based in East Oxford. I provide therapeutic support to children aged between 4 -13 and their families within Oxford and the surrounding area.
Calyx Play Therapy offers a child a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate therapeutic space to explore things that feel difficult to them.
Play therapy sessions take place within the familiar environment of school.
Calyx
/ˈkeɪlɪks,ˈkalɪks/
The calyx is the outer whorl of green sepals that surround a flower bud, safely holding and protecting the petals until they are ready to unfurl and bloom, just like the way a therapist will hold a secure space for a child, so that they can thrive and flourish.
The word Calyx is rooted in Ancient Greek. The word ‘chalice’ also comes from the same word root, and in my play therapy toolkit, a golden chalice is often used as a symbol in the sand tray.
